Masterclass – 6 tips for job seekers on the neurodivers spectrum

As a neurodivergent person, you have extraordinary gifts and abilities. Employers are slowly waking up to recognizing this. Finding a job is tougher for those who see and think differently. During this workshop, six tips will be shared for landing a suitable job and thriving in the workplace.

Real stories – What is it like to search for jobs or be employed when you have a (dis)ability, chronic illness or psychological issue.

For many with a support requirement, job searching and being interviewed could be challenging! Alumni and employees of TU Delft, who have gone through this process already, will share their personal experiences, tips, guidance and advice with regards to work or finding a job after graduating. They will answer any questions you may have. While there may be some challenges along the way, you will find out that wins can be created, too!

Introduction Class – Design for all: Inclusive education with Universal Design for Learning

In this introduction class, you will delve into the world of inclusive and accessible educational design. Based on real-life situations of students, we will explore the principles and applications of UDL and explain why they work so well. You will gain all kinds of practical ideas and quick fixes to make your own education more inclusive and accessible. The educational questions you bring in during the session will provide inspiration and plans for the future.

After this introduction class you will come away with

  • a clear understanding of the concept of inclusion and related constructs
  • a discussed insight in the interdependency of the social and medical view on ableism
  • expertise in the principles of UDL and hands-on practices to start redesign your education
  • first step ideas of implementing UDL in your education or setting

Everyone is welcome during this introduction class; students, teachers, educational advisors or designers, study advisors, counselors and policy makers,… all need to work together to make the educational system more inclusive.

This introduction class is brought to you by Sietske Vissers of the UDL-academy, in collaboration with the Teaching Academy of TU Delft.

Workshop – Design for all: Inclusive education with Universal Design for Learning

In this workshop, we will bring what we have learned into practice.
In collaboration with each other, and using personas created with your own students, you will explore opportunities for redesigning education in the context of UDL. Together you will construct new insights, ideas and outcomes and make high transfers to your own educational settings.
During this session, several students from ‘Student Onbeperkt’ will attend to share their insights and experiences.
To take this workshop it is necessary to have attended the introduction class, either this morning or at an earlier time.

In this class you will come away with

  • Practical knowledge of and competence in the (implementation of) principles of UDL;
  • Capability, insight and inspiration to make informed choices in your inclusive education design;
  • An in-depth and enriched view on conducting inclusive leadership as a teacher;
  • A head full of ideas about alternative work formats, instructional methods, assignments etcetera;
  • Words, ideas and actions to take UDL further in your organization.

Everyone is welcome on this workshop; students, teachers, educational advisors or designers, study advisors, counselors and policy makers,… all need to work together to make the educational system more inclusive.

Join this gathering; let us talk together about recognizing, supporting, valuing and celebrating Neurodiversity across the TU Delft.

Movienight – A different perspective

Are you interested in Neurodiversity and Mental health? During this movie night we will watch two short though provoking short movies about these subjects.  After each short movie we will discuss and dive deeper into the subject through sharing experiences and perspectives. This is definitely a safe space to share any stories you might have surrounding the subject due to there being confidential advisors present to ensure a safe environment.
